Adrian Peterson to Have Surgery to Repair Torn Meniscus

Phil Ellsworth / ESPN Images(NEW YORK) — Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson injured one of his knees during Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers and now he is planning to go under the knife.

Peterson, 31, told ESPN Wednesday he has decided to have surgery to repair the torn meniscus on his right knee. The operation is expected to happen on Thursday.

The running back told ESPN he is going into the operating room with “faith and optimism.”

It is not yet clear how much of the season Peterson will have to miss.
