Broncos' Brandon Marshall Shares Racist, Threatening Letter He Received

Jonathan Bachman/Getty Images(ENGLEWOOD, Colo.) — Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall posted a letter with racial slurs on social media that he said he received at Broncos headquarters.

“It was extremely concerning,” he told reporters on Friday. “To me, it just lets me know that stuff still exists. That’s the reason I put it out, to expose what everybody thought was maybe put to bed, put to rest. But that stuff is still alive, and still exists.”

The handwritten letter included racist terms and threats like “Your time is coming” and “we are ‘channeling’ a devastating hard hit for you.”

The Broncos’ security is investigating the letter, which had a return address of Mrs. Jackson’s sixth-grade class and “We love you, Mr. Marshall” written on the envelope.

Marshall said he believed the writer “wanted to make sure I got it.”

Despite the threatening letter, the linebacker said he received supportive messages online via Instagram and Twitter. On Friday, he also retweeted letters of positive encouragement in response.
