Craig Sager Dead at 65

Kevin Mazur / Getty Images(NEW YORK) – Turner Sports announced on Thursday that Craig Sager, the longtime sideline reporter, has died after a battle with cancer at the age of 65.

Turner President David Levy said in a statement that “Craig Sager was a beloved member of the Turner family for more than three decades and he has been a true inspiration to all of us. There will never be another Craig Sager. His incredible talent, tireless work ethic and commitment to his craft took him all over the world covering sports.”

Levy’s statement did not say when or where Sager died.

Sager announced in April 2014 that he had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. He underwent two bone marrow transplants and as a result, missed covering that season’s NBA playoffs and a large part of the following season.

Although the cancer went into remission, Sager revealed in March 2016 that it was no longer the case. According to Sager, the typical prognosis was three to six months to live.

The side line reporter was known for his flashy suits and good sense of humor.
