The Miami Herald reported that Smith’s girlfriend Mary Gaspar was arrested after arguing about how much attention he was giving her. Gaspar allegedly then boiled a pot of water in his dorm room and dumped it on him. Smith suffered multiple burns on his body.

Gaspar has been charged with aggravated battery.

Smith, a senior tight end, ends his college career with 175 catches and 17 touchdowns for the Golden Panthers.
