Gymnasts Simone Biles and Aly Raisman Go for Gold in Women's Floor Exercise Finals Tuesday

Amin Mohammad Jamali/Getty Images(RIO DE JANEIRO) — Beloved American gymnasts Simone Biles and Aly Raisman are set to compete for gold during Day 11 of the Olympic Games in Rio today. Team USA won scores of silver and bronze medals yesterday but encountered a “no-gold day.” Here is a lineup of some of the most exciting events taking place in Rio.

Gymnastics

Women’s floor exercise finals are scheduled for Tuesday at 1:47 p.m. ET.

This will be Simone Biles’ final event of the Rio Olympics. The 19-year-old has already broken records as the first American female gymnast to win three gold medals in a single Olympics. If Biles wins gold this afternoon, she will become the fifth woman (and first American woman) to win four gymnastic gold medals in a single Olympics.

Aly Raisman is also competing in the floor exercise finals. Raisman won gold in 2012 for the floor exercise, and if she wins this afternoon, she will be the fourth female gymnast (and first American female gymnast) to win two golds in the event.

The U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team has won seven medals so far in Rio, and is one medal shy of a team record for a single Olympic games.

Track and Field

Today is a busy day for Track and Field in Rio, which includes an appearance by world record holder Usain Bolt. The world’s fastest man will compete in the first round of the men’s 200 meters race. Heats begin at 10:50 a.m. and Bolt is scheduled to run in the ninth heat. Bolt currently holds the world record for the 200 meters, with a time of 19.19 seconds.

The men’s triple jump finals was this morning and Team USA’s Christian Taylor won gold. Fellow American teammate Will Claye took home the silver medal.

The finals for the women’s discus event is also scheduled for Tuesday.

The men’s high jump finals will be tonight at 7:30 p.m. with Erik Kynard Jr. representing Team USA.

The women’s 200 meter dash semifinals will commence at 9 p.m. with Deajah Stevens, Jenna Prandini and Tori Bowie representing Team USA.

The women’s 1500 meter race is this evening at 9:30 p.m. with Shannon Rowbury and Jennifer Simpson representing Team USA.

The men’s 110 meter hurdles finals will be tonight at 9:45 p.m. Ronnie Ash, Devon Allen and Jeff Porter first have to compete in the semifinals to qualify.

In other Olympic news, American swimmer Ryan Lochte flew back to the States Monday night after being robbed in Rio.

An Egyptian judoka competitor was also reprimanded by Olympic officials after he refused to shake hands with an Israeli competitor who beat him. Islam El Shehaby was sent home by the Egyptian Olympic Committee, who apologized on his behalf after he refused to shake hands with Israel’s Or Sasson.
