Los Angeles Lakers Suffer Franchise's Worst Loss

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images(DALLAS) — Los Angeles Lakers first-year coach Luke Walton didn’t mince words after the franchise’s worst, 49-point loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

“Honestly, it’s embarrassing for us as a team and for us as an organization, for our Laker fans that are so good to us,” Walton said post-game according to ESPN. The team’s previous worst margin of defeat  was a 48-point loss to the Utah Jazz last March, ESPN reports.

The Lakers only had two players score double digits in the loss. The team has dropped six of their last seven games, including a 40-point loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

According to ESPN, the loss came 11 years after Kobe’s 81-point game, the second-most points scored by a single player in a game in NBA history.
