Martin Truex Jr.'s Darlington Throwback Scheme Revealed

Phil Ellsworth / ESPN Images(NEW YORK) — Martin Truex Jr. has revealed the throwback scheme he’ll use in the Sprint Cup race at Darlington Raceway during Labor Day weekend.

The sky blue/navy blue scheme will salute the 100th anniversary of Auto-Owners Insurance, the primary sponsor for his No. 78 Toyota. He’ll also wear a special firesuit honoring independent insurance agents and the typical agent attire from 1916.

“Auto-Owners has put a lot of creative thought in activating its primary sponsorship and we would like nothing more than to reward the 100-year-old company with a victory at one of NASCAR’s most celebrated tracks,” Truex said in a statement.

Several other drivers have already revealed their throwback schemes for the Darlington event, dubbed the Bojangles’ Southern 500. It’s scheduled for Sept. 4.
