Nadal Advances to Australian Open Final Against Federer

The Grand Slam final will pit Roger Federer against Rafael Nadal. Nadal, the No. 9 seed, beat Grigor Dimitrov in five sets Friday — 6-3, 5-7, 7-6, 6-7, 6-4 — to advance to the final.

Federer, the No. 17 seed, bested Stan Wawrinka in five sets Thursday to head to his sixth Australian Open final and his 28th overall Grand Slam final.

As for Nadal, this marks his fourth Australian Open final. He last appeared in the final Down Under in 2014, when he loss to Wawrinka.

Nadal, 30, and Federer, 35, last faced off against each other in a Grand Slam final in 2011 for the French Open. Nadal won in four sets, 7–5, 7–6, 5–7, 6–1.

The two will battle it out in Melbourne on Sunday.
