Garoppolo landed on his right throwing shoulder and the team announced that Garoppolo would not return to the game due to the injury.

Rookie Jacoby Brisset took over for Garoppolo as he was the only other quarterback on the team’s roster, according to ESPN.

Brisset held on to the Patriots lead and the team held on for a victory over the Dolphins.

Garoppolo is serving as QB while Tom Brady serves his 4 game suspension, part of the penalties for the Deflategate scandal.
