Report: Patriots' Jimmy Garoppolo Sprained Right AC Joint

Jim Rogash/Getty Images(FOXBOROUGH, Mass.) — Could the New England Patriots be down to their third-string quarterback?

Sources tell ESPN that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a sprained AC joint after taking a hit during Sunday’s home opener against the Miami Dolphins.

According to ESPN, sources said the quarterback would be assessed day by day.

If Garoppolo does not play next week’s game against the Houston Texans, the Patriots would be down to their third-string quarterback, rookie Jacoby Brissett.

“He’s handled himself well. He comes in, he works hard, he’s a good kid,” wide receiver Julian Edelman told ESPN. “I’m excited to see this week and how we prepare together, and get ready for the Houston Texans.”
