Report: Tristan Thompson to miss game in Boston, have MRI on thumb

Phil Ellsworth / ESPN Images(CLEVELAND) — Tristan Thompson will not be taking the court Wednesday night when the Cleveland Cavaliers face off against the Boston Celtics.

The Cavs center will instead be having an MRI Wednesday after injuring his thumb during Tuesday night’s game against the Orlando Magic, sources tell ESPN. His X-rays after the game came back negative and the MRI is being done as a precaution, ESPN reports.

Cavs center Larry Sanders has been recalled and will step in to play for Thompson in Boston.
