Report: Under Amour to Supply MLB Uniforms

Digital Vision/Thinkstock(BALTIMORE) — Major League Baseball players will reportedly be wearing uniforms by Under Armour starting in 2020. The Baltimore Sun reports the team owners have agreed to begin using Under Armour instead of Majestic Athletic, whose contract terminates in 2019.

Cleats, compression sleeves and batting gloves are among the equipment pieces Under Armour has already supplied to the league. MLB has partnered with other companies such as New Era Cap Co. for the caps, Majestic for the uniforms and Nike for the players’ base layer shirts, according to The Sun.

Up to now, Under Armour has maintained partnerships with individual players who use its products, but the company has recently worked to get into team sports.

“Team sports are a pillar of our business, and baseball is an important player,” Under Armour executive Peter Murray said as the current baseball season began, according to The Baltimore Sun.

The Under Armour uniforms agreement has yet to be formally announced, and reps from the athletic apparel company did not immediately returns calls to The Sun.
