Resale Prices Skyrocket for Historic Game 7

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) – As the Chicago Cubs increased their lead in Game 6 of the World Series, so did the resale ticket prices for Game 7.

With Game 7 guaranteeing a World Series victory for either team, fans are now willing to spend more money to witness history. Data from ticket market tracker TicketIQ showed that before the first pitch of Game 6, the average selling price of a Game 7 ticket was $1,800. After the Cubs put up three runs in the first inning, sale prices went up 17-percent. By the end of the game, the average sale price was up by more than 50-percent.

On StubHub, the most expensive tickets bought came in at $19,500 each for a pair of seats located by the Cubs’ dugout.

Game 7 will be an historic win for either team, as the Cubs look to win their first World Series since 1908, while the Cleveland Indians have not won a championship since 1948.
