Team USA is also on track to add to its overall medal count — extending its lead over Great Britain and China.

Track and Field

All eyes are on Usain Bolt, who will go for his eighth gold medal Thursday night in the 200-meter dash. The finals start at 9:30 p.m. ET. LaShawn Merritt will be representing Team USA.

Bolt currently holds both the world record and the Olympic record in this race.

The men’s decathlon medals will be awarded Thursday night after the 1500-meter finals. The decathlon athletes will also compete in the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault and javelin Thursday. American Ashton Eaton is leading in points after the first day of events Wednesday.

The women’s 400-meter hurdles is Thursday at 9:15 p.m. ET. Dalilah Muhammad and Ashley Spencer will be representing Team USA as they try to capture their first Olympic gold in the event.

Basketball

The U.S. women’s basketball team will play France in the semifinals Thursday at 6 p.m. ET. In 2012, the women’s team beat France by 36 points.

Volleyball

The top-ranked American women’s volleyball team will take on Serbia in the semifinals Thursday at noon ET. Brazil, the two-time defending Olympic champions, was defeated by China in the quarterfinals.
