Rookie Chris Buescher Wins Weather-Shortened Race at Pocono

iStock/Thinkstock(LONG POND, Pa.) — Sprint Cup Series rookie Chris Buescher won his first race in NASCAR’s top circuit on Monday, winning a weather-shortened Pennsylvania 400 at Pocono Raceway.

Buescher was the leader when officials called the red flag with 22 laps remaining due to fog.  After an 80-minute delay, he was named the winner.

Brad Keselowski, Regan Smith, Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart rounded out the top five in the Pennsylvania 400, which was originally scheduled for Sunday but was postponed by one day due to rain.

Despite the win, Buescher, 23, currently is not eligible for the Chase because he is not among the top 30 drivers in the Cup standings.
