Hemera/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — The MLB has selected its managers of the year.
Based on a vote by the Baseball Writers Association of America, the Cleveland Indians’ Terry Francona was named American League Manager of the Year and the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Dave Roberts was given the title for the National League.
Francona helped lead his team to the World Series for the first time since 1997. Although the Indians didn’t win, they gave the Chicago Cubs a run for their money, pushing them to a Game 7.
Despite 28 players being placed on the disabled list in 2016, Roberts– on his first year on the job– helped lead the Dodgers to finish the season with only one extra loss compared to the year before.
