DigitalVision/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — A fan’s prophetic tweet from two years ago correctly predicted the dramatic Game 7 of the World Series between the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians — or part of it at least.
A user who tweets under the handle @RaysFanGio pinned a two-year-old post to the top of his feed. As the game went into the 9th inning with the teams locked up in a 6-to-6 tie, the 2014 tweet started going viral, and has now been retweeted more than 130,000 times and liked more than 100,000 times.
The prophecy — that the two teams would tie in extra innings and then the world would end, leaving two of the most title-starved teams in MLB history forever in a deadlock — started looking scarily on-point as a rain delay was called at the end of the 9th inning.
But the action quickly got back underway and the Cubs took a two-run lead in the top of the 10th inning, on their way to a historic victory, marking their first title since 1908. The final score was 8 to 7.
