Dale Earnhardt Jr. to Miss Next Two Races, Jeff Gordon to Fill In

Allen Kee / ESPN Images(NEW YORK) — Dale Earnhardt Jr. will continue to miss time on the track as he recovers from a concussion.

Hendrick Motorsports announced Tuesday that Earnhardt has not been cleared by physicians to compete, and will miss the next two Sprint Cup races.

He will be unable to compete at Watkins Glen International on Aug. 7 and Bristol Motor Speedway on Aug. 20.

Jeff Gordon will fill in for him in both races, after subbing for him in recent weeks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Pocono Raceway.

Previously, Alex Bowman replaced Earnhardt in the July 17 race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
