Derek Fisher May Consider Return as a Player

Photo by Ben Solomon / ESPN Images(NEW YORK) — Former New York Knicks head coach and veteran NBA player Derek Fisher could be working on a comeback.

Tuesday night, Fisher posted a workout video with the hashtag “#Imnotdoneyet.” Sources told ESPN Wednesday that Fisher has expressed some interest in returning t the court and that he is exploring his options.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Magic Johnson is the last man to return to the court after spending time as a coach. He played 32 games for the 1995-1996 Los Angeles Lakers after coaching 16 games during the 1993-1994 season.

Fisher coached the Knicks from 2014 until earlier this year, when he was fired from that position. He has since appeared on NBA TV and other networks as an analyst.

At 42, Fisher would be the oldest active NBA player if he returned to the league. He could also potentially play overseas.

Fisher won five NBA Championships with the Los Angeles Lakers and appeared in an NBA record 259 playoff games in his 18-year career.
