Andy Lyons/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Ray Allen on Tuesday announced that his time in the NBA has come to an end after 18 years.
In a letter posted on The Players Tribune website, the shooting guard addresses his 13-year-old self , saying: “I write this to you today as a 41-year-old man who is retiring from the game. I write to you as a man who is completely at peace with himself.”
Allen last played in the NBA during the 2013-14 season for the Miami Heat. League sources told ESPN the 10-time All-Star recently considered getting back in the game with either the Golden State Warriors or Cleveland Cavaliers.
In his career, Allen played for four teams — the Heat, Boston Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics and Milwaukee Bucks — and won two NBA championships. He leads the NBA in career 3-pointers with 2,973.
