His wife Hannah announced Monday on Jeter’s Players’ Tribune website that she and the former Yankees shortstop were expecting a child together.
In a post reflecting on her relationship with the 42-year-old retired baseball player, Hannah Jeter pondered the “big moments,” such as May 14, when the Yankees will retire her husband’s number. That’s when she broke the news.
“Big moments also have a funny way of making you look ahead,” she wrote. “Now pregnant with our first child, Derek and I are looking to the future.”
The post also included a photo of Derek Jeter holding a bunch of pink balloons, indicating the couple’s first child would be a girl. Hannah Jeter also said the two had not yet agreed on a name for their daughter, but said, “Whatever her name is, I know she’ll run circles around him.”
