Allen Kee / ESPN Images(LAS TERRENAS, Dominican Republic) — The Kansas City Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura was laid to rest in his native Dominican Republic on Tuesday.
Yordano was killed in a car accident on a highway leading to the town of Juan Adrian, about 40 miles northwest of Santo Domingo.
Hundreds of people traveled with Ventrua’s casket for miles as traffic blocked the roads to the cemetary.
According to the Kansas City Star, Ventura’s teammates and other members of the organization traveled to the funeral. Former Red Sox star David Ortiz was also in attendence.
